Our Military has an impressive history, and the veterans who have served deserve to hold their heads high. In 1775, the first Continental Congress formed the Continental Army and Continental Navy, in order to remove the shackles of the British Monarchy. Since that time on numerous occasions, our military has fought to defend our country and our freedom, as well as the freedom of others. Our veterans have performed extraordinary feats all over the world and repeatedly gone above and beyond the call of duty. Their wide range of service is accurately depicted in the Marines’ Hymn, the first verse reads:

“From the Halls of Montezuma
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country’s battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean . . .”

The other branches also emphasize this call to duty. The first line of the Coast Guard anthem, Semper Paratus, declares that they operate From Aztec Shore to Arctic Zone, to Europe and Far East…. Unquestionably, all the branches have fantastic anthems championing the amazing bravery and feats of daring so typical of the U.S. Military. The Air Force anthem voices it well: Off we go into the wild blue yonder climbing high into the sun. Equally important is the fact that . . . with scouts before and bombers galore, nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force!
