Chris Benjamin

Chris Benjamin is a seasoned trial attorney with extensive experience in personal injury, traffic law, and criminal defense. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Columbia School of Law in 2002, following a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. While at the university, he served as Vice President of the Missouri Students Association.

Legal and Professional Experience

He has handled more than 200 trials across Missouri and Kansas and also served as the municipal judge in Garden City, Missouri. He has argued cases before the Supreme Court of Missouri, the Western District Court of Appeals, and the Southern District Court of Appeals. Through personal injury litigation in Missouri and Kansas, he has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of his clients. He has been named a “Super Lawyer” by the Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers publication every year since 2019.

Benjamin previously served as Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives and as General Counsel to the Majority Floor Leader. As a member of the House leadership staff, he played a central role in managing the drafting and passage of legislation into state law. In 2005, he worked with then-State Senator Chris Koster to establish a new judgeship in Cass County, resulting in the creation of Division 5 of the 17th Circuit. He has also served on staff in the Missouri Senate.

Leadership and Community Involvement

Benjamin currently serves as President of the Metropolitan Community College Board of Trustees for the Kansas City area. He previously served as Secretary and board member of the Cass County Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees and was twice elected by Cass County residents to the Emergency Services Board, where he drafted the Board’s by-laws and helped oversee the administration of the county’s 911 sales tax. He is also a past President of the Harrisonville Area Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Missouri Bar, and a former member of the Missouri Municipal and Associate Circuit Judges Association.

Personal Background

He is an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Harrisonville High School. An avid distance runner, he has completed over 75 marathons and ultramarathons, with race distances ranging from 26.2 to 135 miles. He credits the sport with sharpening the focus, discipline, and mental endurance he brings to both legal advocacy and civic leadership.
